The 51 hour filmmaking competition is a theme based event. Submission will be taken offline. You have to complete everything - scripting, shooting and editing in 51 hours only. A short synopsis of the film also has to be submitted.

Theme:

Will be announced on the first day of the meet.

Submission:

Final movie, some major raw shots used to make the final movie (the host institute reserves the right to ask for specific raw shots if needed) and the recording of the route to the shooting locations from the host campus main gate.

Regulations:

  • The content of the movie should be appropriate for public screening and thus should have no kind of vulgarity or obscenity.
  • The sequence of screening will be decided by picking up chit on submission.
  • Subtitles are compulsory in case of usage of languages other than English/Hindi. It is optional for English/Hindi.
  • The movie must not suggest in any way (explicitly, or implicitly) the name of the IIT that made it.

Penalty:

  1. Exceeding the time limit will cause deduction of 5 marks per minute. Entries with duration more than 10 minutes will not be judged.
  2. Penalties for late submission are as follows:
    • 15 min after deadline 5 marks
    • 30 min after deadline- 10 marks
    • 60 min after deadline- 20 marks
    • No submission will be accepted 90 mins after the deadline
  3. If the movie lacks relevance to the given theme, a maximum of 30 marks shall be deducted from the overall score, as per the judge’s discretion.
  4. If a team fails to submit their entry before the completion of 50 hours they shall not be allowed to participate in the screenwriting competition.

All the teams will be given a task of screenwriting at the time of submission of their entry for 51 hour filmmaking competition.

General Rules:

  • No extra time will be given for this task outside the 51 hours. Teams are supposed to complete this task in whatever time which is left in those 51 hours.
  • Each team will be provided with a theme/situation at the time of submission of the 50 hour film.
  • Each team has to submit an original screenplay of a scene (based on the theme/situation) of not more than 3 minutes of screentime.
  • Screenplay must be well formatted. For example, one page of your screenplay should be equivalent to one minute of screentime.

Time exceeding penalties:

  • 15 min after deadline - 5 marks
  • 30 min after deadline- 10 marks
  • 60 min after deadline- 20 marks

Submission:

  • There is no limit on the number of cast and crew members.
  • The content of the movie should be appropriate for public screening and thus should have no kind of vulgarity or obscenity.
  • Entries will be screened in reverse order of submission (The entry submitted first will be screened last).
  • Subtitles are compulsory in case of usage of languages other than English/Hindi. It is optional for English/Hindi.
  • The movie must not suggest in any way (explicitly, or implicitly) the name of the IIT that made it.
  • All the entries should be submitted at [email protected]
  • Submission must be named as EVENTNAME_IITNAME and should be mailed by the contingent leader.

Penalties:

  • 5 marks will be deducted for every hour exceeded after the deadline. No submissions will be accepted after 12 P.M. the following day.
  • If the movie lacks relevance to the given theme, a maximum of 30 marks shall be deducted from the overall score, as per the judge’s discretion.
